Fairytale and mythical characters call for GM moratorium to continue

One hundred people dressed as fairytale and mythical creatures assembled on the steps of Parliament today to call on the WA Government to extend the moratorium on GM crops in Western Australia.  Participants were dressed as their favourite fairytale character to highlight that claims made by GM proponents are no different to myths and fairytales. WA’s waste crisis to continue with EPHC stalling on container deposits

The Conservation Council has welcomed the EPHC’s new national policy on waste and resource management announced today but is disappointed that steps towards the introduction of a national container deposit scheme – one of the only measures capable of reversing Western Australia’s recycling crisis – have been stalled. Government oil spill inquiry should not delay immediate action on marine protection

Conservation groups have warned the Commonwealth Government today not to use the public inquiry into one of Australia’s worst oil spills as a smokescreen to not take strong action on marine protection in the Kimberley, one of the world’s most pristine marine environments. Read more >>
