Environment Matters: The Changes to Environmental Law in WA Print

Image

Environmental law was created to provide protection for WA’s unique natural environment; however proposed amendments to environmental legislation in WA will affect your community, the project approvals process, and environmental protection.

Currently there is a bill before parliament that will amend Western Australia’s most important environmental act (Environmental Protection Act 1986) and change the way WA’s natural environment is legally protected.

The EPA, community, and industry have provided consistent advice that the principles of transparency and accountability must be maintained as essential elements of the environmental assessment process if the community is to have any confidence in environmental regulation in WA.

This is your opportunity to hear about the direction of environmental law in WA and to understand how the amendments will affect you.
