Tell us what you think!
As the State's peak environment group, we represent our members and supporters, so it is crucial that we find out what interests you and what your biggest concerns are. By completing our 2010 supporter environment survey you will be helping us to represent you more effectively in these critical times for WA's precious environment. The survey contains 14 questions and should take about 10 minutes to complete.

SUPPORT the Uranium Free campaign
Whether you live in Western Australia or another state WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT to tell the WA Government that a great many people do not share its enthusiasm for uranium. Below are FIVE ways you can support the Conservation Council of Western Australia’s (CCWA) campaign to keep Uranium in the ground!

DONATE TODAY to support the campaign to keep Uranium in the ground in WA.

COMPLETE the short Uranium Free Survey
These are busy days for the nuclear trade in Australia and very important days in Western Australia’s hot running uranium debate. Nationally there is a strong government and industry push to expand uranium mining, continuing federal moves to impose a radioactive waste dump on the Northern Territory and talk of a ‘cradle to grave’ nuclear industry, including domestic nuclear power. Complete the CCWA survey to show that public opinion is strongly against uranium mining in WA and the rest of Australia.

SIGN the WA
Uranium Free Charter

For WA the stakes are very high.
If these nuclear dreams and secret schemes become reality WA could become the world’s uranium quarry and radioactive waste dump and the very real potential for WA to become a global leader in renewable energy production and efficient energy use would be lost. Let the Western Australian government know that you support the WA Uranium Free Charter sign here

LISTEN to the Uranium Free community service announcements
The
Conservation Council of Western Australia (CCWA), WA’s peak environment group has launched a state wide radio campaign calling for a public inquiry into uranium mining in WA. Get your local community radio station to play them on air!

SUPPORT the call for a
 Uranium Mining Public Inquiry

Last year’s election of the Barnett WA government has seen the removal of a long standing State ban on uranium mining and the rapid expansion of activity – and media frenzy – in the West. The CCWA and other environment groups called for a
Uranium Mining Public Inquiry with the powers of a Royal Commission into the first proposed uranium mine in the state: BHP Billiton’s Yeelirrie project in the Mid-West.

The inquiry proposal, supported by trade union, Indigenous, public health, youth, political and civil society groups, would see an independent and comprehensive examination of controversial State government uranium mining plans. For the sake of workers, communities, our environment and future generations the Barnett government should hold a credible and genuine Public Inquiry into this dirty, thirsty and risky industry.

View the appeal for a Public Inquiry submitted by the Conservation Council of Western Australia, The Wilderness Society, Australian Conservation Foundation and UnionsWA.
