Tell us what you think! As the State's peak environment group, we represent our members and supporters, so it is crucial that we find out what interests you and what your biggest concerns are. By completing our 2010 supporter environment survey you will be helping us to represent you more effectively in these critical times for WA's precious environment. The survey contains 14 questions and should take about 10 minutes to complete.

The Kimberley - Beautiful, Unique, Threatened The Kimberley coast in northern Western Australia is one of the last great wilderness areas on Earth. The region is internationally recognised for its unspoilt marine and coastal environments including islands, coral reefs, mangroves, rainforests and rivers, home to a variety of wildlife including endangered whales, turtles, dugong and rare snubfin dolphins. The region's ruggedness and isolation have protected it to some extent from human impact and as a result has outstanding natural values. But the unspolit wilderness is currently under threat from large scale industrial development. Read more
Land Clearing - Our changing landscape Land clearing is a serious threat to the sustainability of our natural resources that can lead to adverse problems such as salinisation, soil erosion, eutrophication, increased gas emissions and loss of aesthetic qualities. Illegal landclearing and further loss of native vegetation in Western Australia must be stopped. Read more
Protect the Banded Ironstone Formation Ranges (BIF) - Threatened Islands of the Outback The Banded Ironstone Formation (BIF) ranges of the Midwest and Yilgarn are scattered across the WA outback from Kalgoorlie in the South to as far north as the Murchison River. The Conservation Council of WA is calling for immediate conservation of this magnificant part of the Western Australian outback. Read more

On the 22nd of October a campaign to “Halt the Salt” was launched by a unique alliance including Conservation Council of WA, Recfishwest, MG Kailis Group and the Western Australian Fishing Industry Council (WAFIC). The Gallop Government is considering allowing one of the World’s largest salt mines to be established along the edge of Exmouth Gulf, one of the nation’s most biologically productive environments. The project being proposed by Straits Resources was of a size previously unheard of in Western Australia and could have impacts on an ecosystem scale. The salt mine would cover an area more than 40,000 hectares - extending for over 65 kilometres long and over 10 kilometers wide in places!
